The Quran is derived from the Arabic word Qur'an, which means to read or recite. Allah Almighty revealed holy books to his Messengers and Prophets as guidance and mercy to humanity. These books include; The Torah, the Gospel, and the Quran. It is the last and final revelation of Allah Almighty. The Quran is the literal word of God and the final revelation to all humanity. The Quran confirms the previous scriptures and is a guardian over their truths. It serves as permanent proof against humanity before God. The Quran is a recital, so when we recite it, it is also a recital. That's why every human needs to read the Quran and build a relationship with Allah Almighty.
The angel Gabrial revealed the Holy Quran to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in 23 years. The revelation of the Holy Quran began in 610 AD to 632 AD, until the death of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). WHAT DOES QURAN MEAN:
The Quran, derived from the word Qur'an or Koran, is the final divine Book, which means to read or recite. The sacred Book was revealed to the Holy Prophet through the angel Gabrial. The Quran is undoubtedly the literal word of Allah. As Allah Almighty said in verse no. 2 of Surah Baqarah:
This is the Book (the Quran), of which there
is no doubt, a guide to those who are
Al-Muttaqoon (the pious and righteous persons
who fear Allah much (abstain from all kinds of
sins and evil deeds which He has forbidden) and
love Allah much (perform all kinds of good deeds
which He has ordained).
HISTORY OF THE HOLY QURAN:
The holy Quran is revealed to the Prophet (PBUH) over 23 years. The first revelation was revealed in the month of Ramadan in 610 AD, which is known as the night of destiny. The first revelation was revealed in the cave of mountain Hira. The verse which was revealed was:
‘’ Read! In the name of your Lord who created
A man from a clinging substance. Read! Your
Lord is most generous, he who taught by the
Pen. Taught man that which he knew not.’’
(Surah Al-Alaq)
According to Sahih Bukhari, the Prophet (PBUH) recited the Book before Gabriel every year in the month of Ramadan, and in the month he died; he recited it before him twice. The Prophet (PBUH) appointed a group of his companions, who were trustworthy and knowledgeable, to write down the revelations. They also memorized the Quran by heart and wrote down verses and surahs on animal skin, thin white stones, or the like. The Quran continued to be preserved in the heart of companions until the time of Caliph Abu Bakar.
During the Ridah wars, any Sahaba who had memorized the Quran was killed. And Abu Bakar (PBUH) feared the Quran would be lost. So, he consulted with other companions about compiling the Quran into a single book. He entrusted this mission to the chief of memorizers, Zayd bin Thaabit.
FACTS ABOUT THE HOLY QURAN:
The Holy Quran has 30 parts and consists of 114 Surahs.
Bismillah is used 114 times in the Holy Quran. All except for Surah, ''Al-Taubah'' starts with Bismillah.
Surah Al-Namel, no. 27 has Bismillah twice in it.
Surah AL Baqarah is the longest Surah.
Surah Kausar is the shortest Surah.
Milk is the most liked drink mentioned in the Quran.
Honey is the best food mentioned in the Holy Quran.
The most disliked thing by Allah, although halal, is divorce.
